Scope and Content Penicuik Railway Station, Midlothian This was the terminus of the Penicuik Railway, a branch from the North British Railway's Waverley Route. In this view the single storey red and white brick passenger station is in the centre, with the goods shed on the left. The Penicuik Railway was built with local support to secure the benefits of rail communication for local industry, especially the paper trade. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
