Scope and Content Lagavulin Distillery, Islay, Argyll Lagavulin is an example of the type of distillery that gradually developed after early 19th-century changes in the law made commercial distilling easier. A coat of white paint makes the distillery's buildings seem uniform, even though most were built at different times. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
