Scope and Content 1900s drawing of hothouses, Rosehaugh House, near Avoch, Highland Rosehaugh House was built in 1798 for Sir Roderick Mackenzie of Scatwell. It was altered twice for the Fletcher family: in 1872 by Alexander Ross; and in 1898-1903, by William Flockhart, in French Renaissance style. It was demolished in 1959. This drawing was published in 1907 in Mackenzie and Moncur's 'Catalogue of Horticultural Buildings'. It shows Rosehaugh's now-vanished hothouses (top) as well as those of Feddel near Perth. The Rosehaugh Estate was purchased in 1864 by James Fletcher. Originally from Avoch, he had grown rich as a merchant in Liverpool. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
