Scope and Content Railway Station, Invergordon, Highland Invergordon was established in the mid 18th century as a fishing settlement. It expanded during the 19th century, becoming a police burgh in 1864. The Railway Station was built in 1861-3 to designs by Joseph Mitchell. The lattice-girder footbridge is typical of Highland stations. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
