Scope and Content South front, Foulis Castle, near Evanton, Highland Foulis Castle, in its present form, was built between 1740 and 1777 by the Munro family who had owned the land since the 13th century. Parts of its masonry contain sections of an earlier tower-house which existed by 1587. The main south front was constructed between 1740 and 1754 by father and son, Sir Robert and Sir Harry Munro. In 1777, Sir Harry added mounted his coat-of-arms on the triangular pediment. To the rear is the cap-house of the north tower, dated 1754. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
