Scope and Content 1900s view of north front of Foulis Castle, near Evanton, Highland Foulis Castle, in its present form, was built between 1740 and 1777 by the Munro family who had owned the land since the 13th century. Parts of its masonry contain sections of an earlier tower-house which existed by 1587. This photograph shows the north front in about 1910. The octagonal tower bears the date 1754 on its second-floor window. Parts of the masonry to the left may date from the 16th century. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
