Scope and Content Stairs to first-floor entrance, south front, Foulis Castle, near Evanton, Highland Foulis Castle, in its present form, was built between 1740 and 1777 by the Munro family who had owned the land since the 13th century. Parts of its masonry contain sections of an earlier tower-house which existed by 1587. These stairs lead to the main first-floor in the south front which was constructed between 1740 and 1754 by father and son, Sir Robert and Sir Harry Munro. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
