Scope and Content Castle Leod, near Strathpeffer, Highland Castle Leod was probably rebuilt after 1608 - the year Roderick Mackenzie received the estate from his brother - and enlarged a few years later. It fell into disuse in the 18th century and was restored, altered and extended in the 19th century. This is the castle's main block. The west front's parapet ends at the truncated corner turret of the original block. The section to its right was added later in the 17th century. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
