Scope and Content West Parish Church, Huntly Street, Inverness, Highland West Parish Church was built in 1837-40 by Robert Caldwell. The main front, seen here across the river, is built in the form of a Classical temple. A square tower with an octagonal cupola rises above the triangular pediment. Mathematically defined architectural styles or Orders used by the Ancient Greeks and Romans during the Classical period were rediscovered by Renaissance architects and remained fashionable until the 20th century.
