Scope and Content 1820s view of Dingwall, Highlands Dingwall, despite being the county town of Ross and Cromarty, remained small with little trade until its harbour was built in 1815-17. Connection to the rail network in 1862 fuelled further expansion. The town-centre was redeveloped in 1963. This view was drawn by J Clarke and published in London in 1824. Three structures dominate the burgh's roofscape. From left to right these are, the Court-house, St Clement's Church of Scotland, and the Cromartie Memorial obelisk.
