Scope and Content Rear face of the cross-slab known as Meigle No 2, Meigle Museum, Perth and Kinross This cross-slab is now in Meigle Museum. The projections on the sides of the stone are unique and it has been suggested that the cross slotted into a screen. Three scenes decorate the back of the slab. Above is a hunting scene, with horsemen and hunting hounds. Beneath, Daniel is cast into the lions' den. At the bottom is a centaur wielding a pair of axes and below a man, and dragon biting a horned beast. Meigle Museum houses one of the richest collections of Pictish sculpture in Scotland, ranging from free-standing cross-slabs to fragments of grave-markers. Most of the stones were found within the churchyard or near the village. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
