Scope and Content Old Mains of Rattray, laird's house, Perth and Kinross Located beside a farm track 550m west-north-west of Mains of Rattray steading, are the remains of a late 17th-century laird's house. The rectangular shape of the house can be seen in this photograph. Originally two storeys and an attic in height, a first-floor fireplace in the gable wall is visible, along with the thick wooden beams which supported the floor. The weathered lintel over the entrance bears the name and arms of David Crichton, along with the date 1694. The house was remodelled and extended in 1720 and again in c.1800.
