Scope and Content Fordell's Lodging, 18 Church Street, Inverkeithing, Fife Fordell's Lodging was built between 1666, when Sir John Henderson of Fordell acquired the plot, and 1671 when its name appears in the records. Its architectural features were used as inspiration by 19th-century Scots Baronialists. The turret overhangs the corner on corbels The top-floor windows are semi-dormer, meaning that they project through part of the roof. The masonry is of rubble and was originally harled except for its dressings - the corner-stones and window surrounds. Historical styles like Scots Baronial, inspired by pre-18th-century architectural traditions, became popular in the 19th century because they reflected national, rather than Classical, architectural traditions.
