Scope and Content Gleann Beag, Cro na h-Airighe, farmstead, Perth and Kinross A series of abandoned farmsteads lies in the steep-sided Gleann Beag, along with extensive cultivation remains and groups of shielings. This example occupies a terraced area to the south of Creag Dubhaidh. The farmstead comprises six buildings, a yard and other associated outbuildings, including a possible mill and three kilns. As can be seen in this photograph, the buildings were rectangular in shape and were grouped round the yard. The occupants of farmsteads, like this example, were farmers and cultivated the surrounding land. Some of the buildings were houses, others were byres and barns.
