Scope and Content Pend in west range of main steading, Lindifferon Steading, Fife Lindifferon Steading was well established by 1854 when records show it was owned by Francis Balfour of Fernie Castle and rented to David Landale. Despite later additions, much of the layout and buildings of the original complex survives. This is the pend, or passage, of the main entrance to the courtyard. The steps, consisting of stone slabs set into the wall, lead to a loft. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
