Scope and Content 19th century drawing of Dunfermline Town-house, Dunfermline, Fife Dunfermline Town-house was built around 1769-71 to replace the burgh's medieval tolbooth. It was demolished in 1876 to make way for the new City Chambers. The ground floor contained a dual-purpose council room and sheriff court. The upper two storeys added in 1792 held a town hall with a jail above. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
