Scope and Content Mid 19th century drawing of Kirkcaldy Harbour, Kirkcaldy, Fife Kirkcaldy harbour originated in the 16th century in the natural haven at the mouth of the East Burn. It was extended in the 19th and 20th centuries for the linoleum trade, becoming a railway terminus in 1843. This etching shows the harbour in its heyday around 1840. Ravenscraig Castle is visible to the right of the nearest ship's sails. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
