Scope and Content Standing stones at Dyke, Dumfries and Galloway This setting of three standing stones is situated on the north verge of the Beattock to Moffat road (A701). The three irregular monoliths appear have been graded in height when erected. The shortest, the north-east stone (nearest), stands some 0.7m high, whilst the tallest (far left), on the south-west, stands 1.7m in height. The purpose of such monuments remains uncertain, though some sites undoubtedly held religious or ceremonial significance. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
