Scope and Content North frontage of Preston Lodge, Cupar, Fife Preston Lodge was begun in around 1623 by James Williamson and Isabel Heggie. It was bought by James Preston of Denbrae in 1690 and extended to the north. In about 1765, the whole building was remodelled for William Paston, a goldsmith from London. The north part of the house was built for James Preston by 1702. Before Paston's remodelling, it probably consisted of two gables bracketing a flat-roofed block. A frame for a coat-of-arms survives above the door. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
