Scope and Content Standing stone at Torran, Kilmartin, Argyll and Bute This massive monolith stands just to the east of Torran farmsteading, near the shore of Loch Awe. Each face of the stone bears an incised cross. The north-west face (shown here) bears a lightly incised cross, which is in poor condition. On the right-hand limb of the cross there is a pronounced cupmark. With the arrival of Christianity many prehistoric monoliths and monuments were reused or had Christian symbols added to them.
