Restored by The National Trust for Scotland and Historic Scotland, it is the best surviving example of a merchant's house from that period. This is a cross-section of the moulding of the surround or architrave of the door into the fire-proof vaulted strongroom. Like the rest of the room's panelling, it was probably installed during the reign of George II (1727-1760). Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
