Restored by The National Trust for Scotland and Historic Scotland, it is the best surviving example of a merchant's house from that period. This is a cross-section of the plaster cornice. Like the rest of the decoration in the first-floor private room, it was probably installed during the reign of George II (1727-1760). Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
