Scope and Content Bon-Accord Baths, Aberdeen Bon Accord Baths was designed by the City Architect's Department and opened in 1940. It was one of several 'social' buildings provided by the city at that period. The outside of the baths, like many of the 'social buildings' of the period, was designed in a 'non-stylistic' cubic style and built from granite. In the aftermath of the First World War, British architects began to reject ornate historical styles. Instead they adopted ideals like 'fitness', 'craftsmanship', and 'folk community', or else worked in simplified classical styles. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
