Scope and Content Reconstruction of the Neolithic pottery from Canna The presence of Neolithic farming communities on the islands of Canna and Sanday is attested by the remarkable assemblage of decorated and undecorated pottery that has been found in the fields around the abandoned farm at Tarbert. The pots all appear to have been round-bottomed vessels. Some of them were decorated with random stab-markings or elaborate triangular patterns of obliquely incised lines, while some of the undecorated vessels had horizontally pierced lugs. A survey of Canna and Sanday was undertaken by the Royal Commission to record all the archaeological sites and monuments and the landscape within which they lie. This landscape is published as RCAHMS Broadsheet 5. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
