Scope and Content Western processional door of St Andrew's Cathedral Church, St Andrews, Fife St Andrew's Cathedral Church and Augustinian priory were begun by Bishop Arnold and King Malcolm IV in 1160 or 1161 and, being constructed on a scale unrivalled anywhere in Britain except at Norwich, took at least half a century to complete. This door in the south wall of the nave led into the cloister. It was widened in the second quarter of the 13th century. Traces in the masonry show the doorway was reduced in size before being blocked. The east upright or jamb (left) has been restored. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
