Scope and Content Lazy-beds on a terrace, Canna An estate map of 1805 shows the extent of cultivated ground on the islands of Canna and Sanday. These plots of lazy-bed cultivation survive largely intact and form one of the most striking elements of the present landscape. Small plots of lazy-beds occupy the natural terraces on the south side of Canna. Every inch of available ground has been under cultivation. A survey of Canna and Sanday was undertaken by the Royal Commission to record all the archaeological sites and monuments and the landscape within which they lie. This landscape is published as RCAHMS Broadsheet 5. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
