Scope and Content The hut-circle at Sron Ruail, Canna Hut-circles survive in the interior at the western end of Canna, where the ground is largely moorland and peat bog. The orthostatic walls of field-systems can be found in the surrounding landscape and may be contemporary. This hut-circle lies at the foot of a rock outcrop and appears to have been rebuilt on at least one occasion. It has a ring of large stones defining the outer face of its wall. A survey of Canna and Sanday was undertaken by the Royal Commission to record all the archaeological sites and monuments and the landscape within which they lie. This landscape is published as RCAHMS Broadsheet 5. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
