Scope and Content The Presbyterian Church overlooking Canna Harbour The church was designed by P MacGregor Chalmers and was built by Allan G Thom as a memorial to his father Robert Thom. It lies within a stone-walled burial-ground, which is entered by a fine ornamental wrought-iron gate decorated with birds and fish. The church is rectangular on plan and is built of random rubble with pinnings. Its roof is of stone, rendered externally, but visible internally as a pointed tunnel-vault. A round tower lies central to the west gable end. A survey of Canna and Sanday was undertaken by the Royal Commission to record all the archaeological sites and monuments and the landscape within which they lie. This landscape is published as RCAHMS Broadsheet 5. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
