Scope and Content Passage-room on first floor of North Block, Culross Palace, Fife Culross Palace, originally called 'The Great Lodging', was built between 1597 and 1611 by George Bruce. Restored by The National Trust for Scotland and Historic Scotland, it is the best surviving example of a merchant's house from that period. This is the small living-room which also served as a passage connecting the two larger rooms of the North Block's first floor. The painted panels probably date from the original construction in 1611.
