Scope and Content Profile of string-courses in Dunstaffnage Chapel, near Dunstaffnage Castle, at the mouth of Loch Etive, Argyll Dunstaffnage Chapel's original architectural details date it to 1225-50. The burial aisle was added in 1740 when the main building was already ruinous. This was for the use of the Campbells of Dunstaffnage, hereditary Captains of Dunstaffnage castle. These two string-courses, or horizontal mouldings, ran around the inside of the chapel. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
