It passed to the Campbell Earls of Argyll in the 1320s. It was a government base in 1745, and, in 1746, Flora MacDonald's temporary prison. The square structure with four columns is a post-18th century wellhead. To its left is the 1725 dwelling-house, backing on to the 13th-century walls.
