Scope and Content Interior (from chancel) of Kilbrannan Chapel, Knapdale, Argyll Kilbrannan Chapel, dedicated to St Brendan, was probably built to replace Skipness Castle's chapel in around 1300. Most of the stone was quarried nearby, but the red sandstone dressings came from Arran, just across the Sound. The priest in the chancel would have had a very different view from this one. The walls would have been plastered and probably painted with biblical scenes. The worshippers were segregated from the chancel by a rood-screen. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
