Scope and Content Drawing beam-sections of beam-engine in Garlogie Mill, Garlogie, Grampian This mid 19th-century beam-engine is virtually intact and is the only Scottish example of its type still in its original position. It is a house-built rotative beam-engine of medium size, with a double-acting cylinder, separate condenser and air-pump. The cast iron beam is made with a cruciform section to provide maximum strength from the minimum amount of material. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
