Scope and Content Temporary camp at Ochtertyre, Stirling This Roman temporary camp is at Ochtertyre. It is in pasture by the S bank of the River Teith. It lies opposite the camp at Craigarnhall. This is an aerial view of the site. Part of the SW side, a rounded angle and a short section of the SE side can be seen as cropmarks in the upper part of the image. There is a gate, with defensive titulum, in the SW side. This marching camp was discovered through aerial photography in 1983. The location of the camp suggested a Roman crossing further up the River Teith. Investigation located the fort at Doune. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
