Scope and Content View of west side of King Street showing County Record Office, Medico-Chirurgical Hall and North Church, Aberdeen King Street was begun in 1804, initially with unified facade designs, probably by Thomas Fletcher. Later, additional buildings maintained the same Grecian neoclassical style. From left to right are: John Smith's County Record Office built in 1832-3; Archibald Simpson's Medico-Chirurgical Hall, built in 1818-20; and John Smith's North Church, built in 1830. From 1800-1840, a generation of prestigious young architects led by John Smith and Archibald Simpson remodelled Aberdeen in Grecian neoclassical style and improved the infrastructure to meet the needs of the city's expanding industries.
