Scope and Content AL 13: WEST HIGHLAND ALBUM Sketch book with 18 sketches mostly from the Lochaber district in the 1840s. Marbled paper covered board album, with leather corners and decorated leather spine, embossed and partly lined in gold. 17 pencil sketches, one watercolour, all titled in pencil or ink. Only one of the sketches are signed and dated 'TC 1841'; they are all on white paper glued onto the brown pages, 31 pages remain unused. Inside the front cover the album is inscribed: 'Scottish views 19th century', and with sticker; 'J. SEACOMBE. Bookseller & Stationer 25 Bridge Str Row. CHESTER' and initialled in pencil 'A J G' Purchased at aution at Phillips, George Street, Edinburgh, May 1986. 6 1/2" x 10"
