Scope and Content Fortlet at Oxton, Scottish Borders This Roman fortlet is at Oxton. It was built alongside a stretch of Dere Street, the main Roman road in the area. The fort has several small annexes, and one very large one to the SE, running along the side of the old road. This is an aerial view of the site. The remains of the fort and its three annexes can be seen as crop marks to the right of the main road. The road to the right of the fort closely follows the path of Dere Street itself.
