Scope and Content Manager's house at New Lanark, Lanarkshire New Lanark was founded in 1785 by David Dale and Richard Arkwright. It passed to Dale's son-in-law, Robert Owen, in 1799. Owen developed the village into a model community, aiming to make it both profitable and humane. This house was built for the manager of the mill and lived in by Robert Owen during his time at New Lanark. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
