Scope and Content Detail of tentering trough inside kippering-house on the Steps, Wick The kippering-house on Shore Street in Thurso is a well preserved traditional example of its kind. This tentering trough was used to hold the tenter-sticks while the fish were being hooked onto them. The trough caught the drops of vinegar left over from the pickling process.
