Scope and Content Cross-slab known as Sueno's Stone at Forres, Morayshire Sueno's Stone is a 7.6 ton slab of stone, probably from the coast at Covesea some 15 km away. One story is that the stone commemorate a major battle against Norse settlers from Orkney. Found buried in 1726, the stone is now covered by a glass case. This is a view of the second of four panels and it depicts soldiers fighting on foot. The top row is the leader, flanked by his guards. The second row shows combat between the champion of each side. The two figures are running away, showing defeat. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
