Scope and Content Symbol stone known as Clach an Tiompain (or The Eagle Stone) at Strathpeffer, Ross and Cromarty, Highland This slightly damaged cross-slab stands in its original position. It is a good example of a Pictish stone with the symbols deeply incised. The Gaelic name actually means the sounding stone. The stone has two symbols incised on the SE face. The upper symbol is an arch decorated with curvilinear patterns. Below this is an eagle with long wing feathers, a hooked beak and sharp talons. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
