Scope and Content Cross-slab known as Kirriemuir 2 at Forfar, Angus This stone, along with one other, were discovered in 1787 in the foundations of an old church in Kirriemuir. They were placed in a cemetery and are now on display at the Meffan Institute in Forfar. This is a drawing of the stone which appeared in John Stuart's 1856 publication 'The Sculptured Stones of Scotland'. It shows a interlace-filled cross with an angel above each arm. On one side of the shaft is a kilted figure, with animals on the other. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
