Scope and Content Tenter-frames belonging to woollen mill at Bridgend, Islay The woollen mill was built in 1883 on the east bank of the River Sorn which drove the waterwheel providing power for the machinery. It is typical of smaller country factories of the time. Woven fabric was dried on these 'tenter-frames' after it had been washed and shrunk in the milling-machine.
