Scope and Content Catrine Mills, Ayrshire Catrine Mills, along with its model village, was built founded in the 1780s by Claude Alexander. The factory was demolished in 1965. This picture shows the factory (on the right) a few years before it was demolished. It has a bell on the roof which would be used for waking the workers in the village.
