Scope and Content Field system, unenclosed settlement and cairns at Ellershie Hill, South Lanarkshire The unenclosed platform settlement, field system and three burial cairns are on the SE flank of Ellershie Hill. The three sites probably represent three distinct phases. Many similar sites have been destroyed by recent farming. This is a plan of the site. The settlement consists of five platforms dug into the hill as foundations for houses. These were undefended. The remains of the field systems are on either side consisting of narrow enclosures. Three burial cairns are nearby. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
