Scope and Content Symbol stone at Chapel of St Fergus, Dyce, City of Aberdeen This symbol stone from Dyce is of irregular shape and is carved only on one side. The stone, along with a cross-slab, is built into a wall in the east gable of the ruins of Dyce Old Kirk. It is said to have been found in the kirkyard wall. The stone has two incised symbols on it. At the top is a fine example of a Pictish beast with its muscles defined by scrolls. This is done in a similar style to other Pictish animal carvings. Below is a double-disc and Z-rod with a concave sided bar. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
