Scope and Content Grain-mill at Machrimore, Argyll and Bute The grain-mill at Machrimore was built in 1839 and is typical of 19th-century water-powered vertical mills. One of the last two working water-mills in Kintyre, it went out of service in the 1950s. Soon afterwards, most of its machinery was removed. Water for driving the machinery came from Corrieglen Water. It flowed into the trough and dropped onto the waterwheel, making it turn in a clock-wise direction as seen from the outside. Extra water could come from the now-vanished mill-pond. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
