Scope and Content Multi-storeyed warehouses at Caol Ila, Islay, Argyll Caol Ila distillery was built in the 1880s using concrete, at the time a relatively new material. It is a good example of a distillery built in one phase to a carefully thought out plan. As at many distilleries, the side of the warehousing was used to display the brand name.
