Scope and Content Reconstruction of Aberdeen Tolbooth (around 1706), City of Aberdeen Aberdeen Tolbooth was built in the 17th century and modified during the next three centuries along with the surrounding buildings. Only the tower or 'wardhouse' survives from the original building. This is how the tolbooth would have looked after James Smith extended the tower or 'wardhouse' to the north in order to add an extra cell to each level. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
