Scope and Content Elevation of South Queensferry Tolbooth (front), City of Edinburgh South Queensferry Tolbooth dates from before 1635. An application for money for repairs was made to the Convention of Royal Burghs in 1649. The tolbooth was substantially rebuilt in 1720. The Arts and Crafts style Rosebery Memorial Hall to the left bears the date 1893. It was gifted by the 5th Earl of Rosebery as a memorial to his wife Hannah. It housed rooms for reading, games and smoking, and also a small auditorium. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
